Cousin of ex-Patriot Aaron Hernandez due in court
FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — A cousin of former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez who was charged with criminal contempt after refusing to testify before the grand jury investigating Odin Lloyd's death is due in court.
Tanya Singleton is expected to appear in Fall River Superior Court Monday afternoon.
She has pleaded not guilty to criminal contempt and conspiracy charges. She refused to testify before the grand jury that indicted Hernandez last year, though she had been granted immunity.
The trial on the contempt charge is scheduled for Aug. 12.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in the 2013 shooting death of Lloyd, a semi-pro football player from Boston.
Singleton is out on bail and was allowed to return to her home town of Bristol, Connecticut, to receive medical treatment for breast cancer.Associated Press
