(AP) — Police have made an arrest in Holyoke's first homicide of the year.

Officials say 40-year-old Jorge Rodriguez-Nieves was arrested just after midnight Monday in connection with the stabbing Sunday.

He faces arraignment Monday.

Police say 33-year-old Angel David Morales was stabbed in the neck after an argument with the suspect outside a convenience store just before noon Sunday. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the slaying was not gang-related and had nothing to do with the Hispanic Family Festival Parade, which was taking place a few blocks away.

Friends remembered the victim as a dedicated family man.
