A Vermont man has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the 2013 beating death of his girlfriend's 2-year-old son.
Thirty-one-year-old Luke Theriault of Hartford, Vermont entered the plea Thursday in Windsor County Superior Court.
The Valley News reports (http://bit.ly/1B0TPx6 ) that Theriault was arrested Wednesday after a year-long investigation into the death of Jamaal Jayden Turkvan. An autopsy determined the boy died of blunt trauma injuries to his abdomen.
Theriault is being held without bail pending a hearing on the evidence expected to occur sometime next month.
The newspaper quoted court documents as stating that Theriault repeatedly told investigators he does not know how the boy became injured.Associated Press
