(AP) — Philadelphia-area residents are enjoying a relatively mild summer, perhaps a gift for the harsh winter they endured.

Officials have yet to activate a heat warning, or record a single heat-related death.

The Philadelphia Inquirer (http://goo.gl/74X4ak) reports Saturday that there's been just one three-day stretch with temperatures in the 90s.

The summer has brought several strong storms to the region, however, and more are possible early next week.

But meteorologists expect highs in the low 80s afterward, as a wave of comfortable weather sets in.

Meteorologist Michael Musher of the federal Weather Prediction Center says weather patterns are running a month or two behind schedule.

That's why people were shoveling snow this spring — and haven't yet faced a sticky summer.

Musher expects the coming week to be "quite refreshing."
