UNION, S.C. (AP) — A Union county man has been sentenced to 42 years in prison after pleading guilty in his stepmother's shooting death.
Multiple media outlets report that 40-year-old Ashley Dean Tyler told the court Tuesday he killed his 61-year-old stepmother Rebecca Tyler in her home in November of 2015.
Her body was found by a co-worker when she didn't come to work. Officials said she had suffered gunshot wounds to the head, heart and abdomen.
Union County Sheriff David Taylor said Tyler told the court he was sorry for what he'd done.
Tyler was also sentenced to 15 years for an escape from the Union County Jail last August after he took apart a chain link fence. He was caught in some woods by officials using bloodhounds.Associated Press
